Update

Post by squid636 » Sat Aug 05, 2006 12:11 pm

Ok update for everyone. I pulled the driverside rear axle yesterday off the white M30 and bolted it on the other M30. That was the problem. No more noise coming from the axle now. The only problem is that now I have to remove the driverside rear tire again because one of the lugnut studs was broken off. I also am going to do a brake job on it so I dont have to remove again anytime soon. After looking at the caliper and brake pads for this car it seems that they are way too small. Does anyone know how the stopping power of the car is? Should I just upgrade those right now while I am at it? When I compare the Chevy Corsicas pads (which is a 1000lbs lighter) to the M30 they are twice the size on the Chevy. Thanks for any info on this. I will also post up some pics of the swap I did even though it is stock still for anyone who isnt sure how to do it. I have to get some pics of it today.

mind as well.. its a heavier car.. so i guess going at high speeds and sudden stops you need that power.

i say do it. ... and take pix too. hahah

Stock abs on M30 is killer. I was late to work one morning and hauling ass on side streets when a jackass snowbird pulled out infront of me, I jamed the breaks and had perfect steering control and was able to change lanes with out hitting this dipshit at over 60 mph! Unless you add a bunch more power you won't need to upgrade breaking at all. Remember though that tires are 50% of the equation. If you have shit tires you will skid no matter what.

my tires are practically bald...most likely cuz every time i drive my M30 i end up testing it cuz i hear a weird sound or something, which leads to me purposely beating it to death to find out what the problem is.

im just too lazy to change them....
the brakes are pretty strong actually, and the M30 saves itself when my new driver - my daughter - gets behind the wheel and jams on the brakes before slamming into an exit curb.

Cool sounds like I wont have to upgrade them unless I build up or swap the engine. Right now there are yokohama tires on it and they have around 50% of life left so that isnt a problem.

Here is the pic of the repair I did yesterday. Hopefully it helps someone. Not shown in the image is first remove the tire and unbolt the brake caliper from the rotor. On a sidenote if you remove the brake line to untangle it from everything and then plug it or reattach the caliper it will avoid any headaches when you have to bleed the system.

Ok the details. When I got the car the previous owner had some extra parts laying around that he never had the time to put on the car. That is where the bra, lip, and the sunroof visor came from. Hopefully you all can get as much info as you need from the box if you want to order one. If not let me know and I will tell you whatever else is written on the box. The lip and the visor did not come in any packages so I dont have part numbers for them, sorry. I think that this is the website for the bra: http://www.colgancustom.com/shop_vparts.php

As you can see in this photo (sorry about being a little fuzzy) the visor is from Infiniti.
