i was bored today so i decided to take my headlights off and bake them. I always wanted to try it to see if i could rig up some projector lenses in there so i tried it.

well i didn't have any projector lenses to try it so i decided to paint em while they were open. also was thinking that it would be shitty to put a lens in there with the stock outer lens on, cause it has all the lines and ridges on the glass to distribute light more evenly.

Wow looks really good. Any tips on the baking and painting of the headlights that pertains to our cars?

to bake i just followed directions i found online. pre-heat oven to 250 degrees, while waiting for oven make sure to take off any screws or metal clips holding the assemblies together. put the light on a baking sheet and stick it in the oven for 10 minutes, (use a timer) and just do one light at a time cause the glue will harden by the time you get to the second one. use a flat head screw driver to pry the 2 pieces apart and go slow and evenly all the way around so you don't accidentally chip or crack the lens. especially the corner lights cause they're plastic and hard to find replacements. also be sure you have oven mits or you'll burn your hands. sounds pretty common sense but even i got caught slipping once or twice lol. :eeeeek:
for painting i didnt sand at all just used flat black spray paint. if you have hid's you might wanna use hi temp paint, but i dont think it gets that hot. after its dry just re-heat the parts and fit em back together. was easier than baking a cake for sure! :occasion6: :hello2:

ummm well heres an update....
if you drive alot at night, dont do this! I drove last night and it was like driving without headlights lol. so im gonna take em apart again, remove the paint and re-paint only some parts. not so much the reflectors.
