In some instances the bigger the box the lower the bass ( not with every speaker). I have found this on all must every time. Not to say that the speaker works better but just hits a different note.

btw here is a pic of the ported box I built. As you can see I still have a lot of room left. I am sure you can fit your L7 in the trunk with a redesigned box. Not to mention your SQ will improve a lot also.

Wow your car looks nice that is a nice box and it may be that my SQ may go up but it is not a SQ box it is only for the low lows. You know the bass that makes it hard to see. I have an Image Dynamics 12" that I can use if I want SQ but I like the bass that makes you bones and skin vibrate apart . Have you seen the fiberglass box that I am sell in the classified section?

You should build a box that is vented through the rear deck and seal the front (bandpass it) I have done this on a few cars at my old shop, and the SQ is great!!!!

True but to a certain extent. If you build your box too big you can damage the sub when you hit it hard. But your box will still make the sub hit hard. 8) Are you going to put the fiberglass enclosure inside the trunk?

Yeah I have seen it. It looks real nice but too rich for my blood

I just got 5% tint on my car along with a new exhaust. I will post a thread pretty soon with pictures of my car. It has changed a lot. That pic was a really old one. I have had that sub for a good while now. I am thinking of getting another :D

Nope I like the trunk space for tools I can't leave the house with out them they are like my blanket or something. The trunk only has a small opening I's sure I could work with it but I like the rear seat placement. You are right if the box is too big it can hurt the sub that is why it is (as you seem to know ) check the spec sheet before building the box. I like to use Solid Works to build boses on before I build them in real life. I used it recently to build a box for a "57 Chevy that had to be hidden. I used the new Pioneer flat sub and put it in a sealed box that was about .45 Cu. (very very small) and it sounded good, it didn't hit the low lows but the guy loved it. Like I say I like the teeth chattering bass.

I live a little ways a way from you but If I can help with any car audio needs let me know. I am also open to trades ( M30 parts) for the box or trade and parts what ever just want to make something from that thing, there is a long story that goes with that box LOL.

Thats cuz you got your sub in the cabin  When I took off my backseat to upgrade the suspension I blasted the system and I could feel a bunch of air all over my face! It was crazy! I gotta make some videos and put them up on youtube.

I am still learning how to do all of that but I should do the same. Yea with the sub inside it does make a difference a big difference ! The fact that I have a good amp with good wire running it also helps.
