Well after a year saying that I am going to make a thread of my car.... here it is! :toothy7:

Here is a little info about my car. It is a 1991 M30 with 161,000 miles. The engine runs strong. As of now, it is sitting on 280zx rear kyb struts and porsche 944 kyb front struts. Drives real smooth. Rebuilt power steering hoses (no leaks!). New Aftermarket radiator. Complete tune-up 1 week ago. 8) About 9 months ago I had a new catalytic converter put in as well as an exhaust tip (which I now want to cut off). It has 20% tint on the doors and 5% tint on the rest.

My goal for the end of the year: to get this car near show quality level... while still being a daily driver.

Here she is as of now.


As you can see it is getting ready for a new paint job next week. Here it is primered and ready to get sanded. The car did not have any big dents, just numerous little dings which are now gone. :D

Audio system: Well... this is where most of my money has been going into. Lets start with the sound damping. I have about 15 or so full-sized sheets of Dynamat Xtreme on the car. I have done the doors, side walls under rear windows, wheel wells, the whole roof, all of the bottom trunk, side trunk, and double layered trunk lid. It sounds easy but this stuff is really hard to put on right. Not to mention a bunch of small cuts on my fingers.

nice cant wait to see how it looks when ur done ..i got 15% tint on my back they told me at the store that the window was to low and it was gonna block my view..how is it at night backing up? wit 5%

Ok I got some more work done. I finally took the whole interior carpet out and applied 7 more sheets of dynamat xtreme (for a total of 92sq ft on the whole car). Cleaned the carpet while it was out and it came out really nice! Billy Mays Oxyclean shit really works. Didnt someone somewhere say they wanted him to run for president? Anyways heres some pictures.









I got the subs in about 2 weeks ago. They are in a 4.2cuft (42x19x15) box tuned to 33hz. I took me about 2 hours to get the box in the trunk but it did go in after I hit the top metal piece (under the trunk surround) with a hammer. There is NO WAY this box is coming out easily lol. Here are the subs.









So I have everything up and running now (audio wise) and let me tell you this is louder than anything I have owned before. Everything inside moves like crazy. Shit that never moved before shakes like crazy. The speedometer and all the other gauges shake, the rear-view mirror goes all the way down (I have to re-adjust it constantly), The roof flexes along with the door panels lol. I will post a video soon. Paint job is done already with a house of kolor candy orange (looks badass in the sun). I am just waiting for my spokes to come in and I will post more pictures.

Lets see some of the paint, so far it looks great! So you used about 90 sq. ft. of dynamat to do the whole car? I want to sound dampen my car too when I do my audio stuff, but I want to do the whole car like you did except using B-Quiet. Oh, you don't need that much audio power in your M30, donate a sub to me .

Sorry guys those are the only pics I have for now... i took them with my phone and the memory got full...

I'll get some pics of the paint tomorrow for yall I am still waiting for my rims... they are taking too long to arrive!

About the paint, sometimes it looks red but when the sun hits it or its bright outside, it definately looks orange. 3 coats of silver metallic base, 5 coats of candy orange, 2-3 coats of clear. The paint looks really deep lol I dont think pics will do it any justice as in real life it is just crazy! I will try and borrow my sisters camera tomorrow. I'll get some photos nonetheless.

About the sound dampening, 90 sq ft should be perfect for deadening the whole car (this car is small). With 90 sq ft you will even be able to double layer the trunk and door panels like I did.

If you do go with b-quiet, go with the ultimate as it is butyl based and not asphalt. Here take a look at this article, I am sure it will help you decide on what to go with. Make sure to look at the temperature and adhesion tests.

I dont know what exhaust tip it is but it does sound like a wet fart at 4,000+ rpms. Below that it has a deep tone and doesnt sound that bad, but it is LOUD.

I want to go back to a muffler of some sort to quiet the exhaust note inside the car... I was thinking maybe a 60 series muffler from flowmaster???

You don't need anything "flowmaster" on your car, unless its a DJ on playing on your subs. Maybe you should get a resonator before the muffler to quiet things down. You still have the catalytic on there right?

lol I'll look into a resonator... and yes I have a fairly new catalytic converter.
